October isĀ  Breast Cancer Awareness month. For many women and men the threat of breast cancer is an everyday reality. Just last year alone almost 250,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in the U.S. alone. 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. I have not personally lost a loved one to this disease, but I know several people who have. I know that fear is a natural part of life. Even more so when we are forced to face our own mortality. But a diagnosis is not the end. Last year there were more than 2.6 million survivors of breast cancer.

You may be facing a diagnosis today. You may be faced with the thought of losing a loved one. But remember, there is hope.

A couple of years ago, one of my favorite You Tube musicians wrote a song in memory of her mother who died of breast cancer. The song is not about the sorrow she endured, but a message that love survives it all. It is dedicated to everyone who may be suffering through something similar now. It’s a message of hope and strength. That is what I’d like to share with you today.
