Hey there! It’s Saturday and I know a lot of people are planning date night out. But as a mom, I know sometimes it’s nice to just stay home snuggle up on the couch and watch a good movie with your sweetheart. So today, with the help of my trusty Netflix account, I’m going to bring you my list of the 10 Offbeat Romantic movies you’ve probably never seen. They’re all certified (by me) as the perfect thing for date night in. So get your favorite take out and maybe a nice bottle of wine ( don’t forget dessert), and stream some love straight into your living room.

1. Elizabethtown- This movie is one of my all time favorites. It stars Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom. I would describe this as a coming of age, romantic, road trip with an amazing soundtrack movie. The movie deals with death, life, love and living your dreams. It is funny and uplifting , and perfect for just about any occasion.

This movie is about music and the heart, but it’s not a singing dancing musical.  Falling Slowly won the 2007 Academy Award for best original song. The song, like the movie is haunting and romantic.

This movie focuses on one day in the life of a struggling waitress, who meets a mysterious stranger that offers her a day of indulgence. i love a movie with a plot twist you don’t necessarily see coming. This movie is well crafted, and will touch romantics and skeptics alike.

This one is all about the idea of love at first sight, and what it takes to sustain a relationship. Is love really about the butterflies or is it about deciding to be fully committed even when things don’t go as planned?
http://imajinkgraphics.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Jeux-denfants-Love-Me-If-You-Dare.jpg5. Love Me If You Dare- This one is French, so if you don’t like subtitles… well learn to read and watch it anyway! This movie is the story of two people in love from childhood. But it’s not what you’re thinking. It’s about the destructive side of love, and how compelling it is, even when we know better. Is love a game? Find out if you dare.

This one is quietly beautiful and oddly hilarious. Claire and Tom take an unexpected cross country trip, hoping to reach Claire’s ill father. They start out strangers and become closer than they expected. It’s all about the twists and turns of life, and finding beauty in the unexpected. This movie reminds us what coming home really means.
7. Shades of Ray- Zachary Levi (of NBC’s Chuck) plays Ray , a half white half Pakistani actor, who is looking for love, but only wants to acknowledge part of who he is. He learns what it means to love himself and his culture and finally accepts love from the place he tried hardest not to look.

Outsourced- If  you saw the short lived NBC series based on this movie, please don’t hold it against me. The movie endeavors to tell the story of  Todd the manager of a novelty items company, whose company moves their call center to Mumbai. Todd  heads to India as an arrogant American, certain he has what it takes to whip the naive Indian team into shape. He is quickly faced with a culture shock like none other. When he is challenged by Asha, one of the smart, hard working employees in the call center, he begins to open his eyes to the beauty of the people and the country around him. This story is not new, but it is well crafted and tenderly told.
http://www.notrecinema.com/images/cache/love-manager-_376636_42808.jpg9. Management- This one is truly quirky and a little less typically romantic. It stars Jennifer Aniston as a traveling art salesperson who ends up at a pretty shabby motel in the midwest. She meets Steve Zahn who works at the motel. he is a complete slacker with no real ambition, but they end up having a one night stand. He falls in love and proceeds to follow her, even though she is not sure that she wants him to. It’s one of those You never know you wanted this until you had it love affairs (if you can call it that).
http://www.montereymedia.com/theatrical/images/big/lovely,%20still_poster_10_RGB_300ppi.jpg10. Lovely, Still- This one is a tear- jerker. It’s the story of an elderly gentleman who starts a new relationship with is neighbor. I don’t want to spoil anything so I’ll just say they face some trials and in the end we see that even after our prime love is worth fighting for.

Those are my top 10 suggestions. Are there any romantic movies you reserve for a special date?
