Hey Y’All! Ooooh I went all southern on ya :) How’s it going today? I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to use this Turn It Around Tuesday to talk about what you can do when everything is going well and you don’t have anything to turn around in your personal life. Don’t forget about the other people around you! Maybe you’re doing great. Why not try to encourage someone else. Why not make it somebody you don’t normally get along with. Maybe it’s the person who is a know it all. Maybe there’s somebody you work with that is constantly trying to one up you, or worse someone who is always trying to throw negative attention your way. Sometimes we like to keep these people as far away from us as possible. I know I do. I mean who wants to be around someone super annoying. But the Bible tells us that we have to love those people too.

Romans 12: 14-21 says:

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

How are you doing with fulfilling this calling from the Lord? I struggle with it. It doesn’t seem fair that people who irk me to the edge of sanity, are the ones I’m supposed to work hardest to love.  But if we honor the Lord, He will honor us. We are loved constantly by a God who is perfect. If he can love us with all of our flaws, certainly we can love our enemies.

If you have any tips on how to make loving the curmudgeons in our lives a little easier, PLEASE leave a comment. I would love to hear what you have to say!

Be blessed,

<3 Bran

Guys, I’m having a slow day. Do you have those? A day when you wake up and all you want to do is stay warm and snuggly under the comforter? You’re not sad or gloomy, in fact you feel fine, maybe even great. But you just want to preserve that feeling between layers of Egyptian cotton and downy feathers. I’m having one of those days.

Alas, I have a baby to take care of and things to do around the house, so staying in bed is practically impossible. So I’m trying to turn myself around, slowly.  But honestly I think some days you just have to call the game on account of rain, as it were. Some times you do what is absolutely necessary and save the rest for another day.

I hope you all are having a fantastic day!

Whew! We made it through Monday. But let’s be honest, we probably had an attitude about something that could be polished up like tarnished silver. This week, I am focusing on patience.

I am a naturally impatient person. I have been my whole life. Ask my mother, she’ll tell you. Every September as a child  I would try to convince my mom that I didn’t need to go back to school another year. I would explain that I already learned so much the previous year, and I didn’t want to spend the first 3 months just re-hashing things I’d already been taught.

This past week I’ve been trying my best to work on my patience. It is a fruit of the Spirit, after all. My husband and I have been trying to redecorate our bedroom, which sounds simple enough. The thing is we’ve been trying to downsize all the stuff in our tiny apartment at the same time. We are totally different people when it comes to attacking projects. I’m kind of like a bull, rampaging through and throwing stuff out. He is much more thoughtful. He takes time to carefully consider each item before he decides whether or not it’s a keeper.  Add in long nights with little sleep, and …well you can see how things might get a little tense. But I have really been making a conscious effort to be more patient, and understanding. I’ve been trying to allow room for methods other than my own *gasp!* I’m trying to grow up.

I’ve realized that loving others means really, truly accepting who they are. Sometimes I think it’s hardest to do this with those who are closest to us. We tend to think,” If this person really loves me, they’ll do this MY way.” The truth is love is expressed best by letting go of our own agenda, and looking to meet the needs of another.

So that’s my quest for this week. What is yours? Let’s talk about this and find  ways to encourage each other! Have a wonderful week.

Hey everyone! How’s your day going? Mine has been … trying. Let me just start by saying I have a lot of respect for teachers. They have to deal with a bunch of screaming little kids all day, and they’re expected not to lose their minds. My son has been 3 extra handfuls today. He is always busy, but today he was in turbo mode. I’m not gonna lie, there were a few times I was on the edge of losing it, and there’s only one of him.

That’s what inspired me to write this post. Hopefully I can make it a weekly part of this blog. I’m calling today Turn It Around Tuesday, because I want to acknowledge all the things in life that push our buttons. I want us to be aware of them and find ways to turn them around in the middle of our misery, or better yet, before we let them get to us.

Psalm 100:4 says” Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.” I think too often we think of this verse in simple terms. We choose to think of it as a mandate to sing or worship at specific times. But the whole world is His court, and we ought to be thankful at all times.

So for Turn It Around Tuesdays I am going to share one challenging situation in my life, and a way that I can use my attitude of praise and thankfulness to turn it around. I would love to have you take part in this journey as well. Leave a comment telling me about a stressful situation you are facing, and a way that you either turned it around, or something you think will help you to turn it around in the future. God has the best in store for us. I think this is one way we can encourage each other to reach out and grab it!

As for today’s frustration, I choose to thank the Lord for the opportunity to have such a live-wire for a son. The next time I feel overwhelmed I’m going to remember what blessing children are. I’m going to thank God for showing His faith in me by giving me a challenging, loving, confident little man that brings so much joy to my life.

So lets hear it. What can your turn around today?
