Hey Y’All! Ooooh I went all southern on ya How’s it going today? I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to use this Turn It Around Tuesday to talk about what you can do when everything is going well and you don’t have anything to turn around in your personal life. Don’t forget about the other people around you! Maybe you’re doing great. Why not try to encourage someone else. Why not make it somebody you don’t normally get along with. Maybe it’s the person who is a know it all. Maybe there’s somebody you work with that is constantly trying to one up you, or worse someone who is always trying to throw negative attention your way. Sometimes we like to keep these people as far away from us as possible. I know I do. I mean who wants to be around someone super annoying. But the Bible tells us that we have to love those people too.
Romans 12: 14-21 says:
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
How are you doing with fulfilling this calling from the Lord? I struggle with it. It doesn’t seem fair that people who irk me to the edge of sanity, are the ones I’m supposed to work hardest to love. But if we honor the Lord, He will honor us. We are loved constantly by a God who is perfect. If he can love us with all of our flaws, certainly we can love our enemies.
If you have any tips on how to make loving the curmudgeons in our lives a little easier, PLEASE leave a comment. I would love to hear what you have to say!
